The certificate of authenticity

Whenever you buy a diamond jewel or loose diamonds , you must receive a Diamond Certificate of Authenticity (DCA). This certificate, also known as the "Diamond Assessment Report", allows the buyer to check the quality of the stone. This certificate corresponds to a passport.

Who issues these certificates ?

The certificate of authenticity is issued by leading independent experts and world renowned laboratories such as HRD Antwerp (www.hrdantwerp.com), GIA New York (www.gia.edu ) and IGI Antwerp (www.igiworldwide.com). These labs use the same international standards so that the place of purchase of your diamond jewel or your loose diamond does not matter since the markings for each criterion will be the same; certification assessment and validation decisions will be the same for the same diamond.

What does the certificate contain?

On the certificate will be mentioned in particular the 8 criteria that determine the quality of a diamond, namely :

  • Carat weight
  • Clarity
  • Color
  • Shape
  • Proportions
  • Symmetry
  • Finishes
  • Fluorescence

What you also need to know ...

Diamonds come with a unique reference number that matches the one on the certificate of authenticity. The inscription is done using a very fine laser on the colette of the diamond which can only be seen using a gemological microscope.

In general, certification is provided primarily for diamonds of at least 0.50 carats. It should be noted that the certificate contains no details on the value of the diamond that corresponds to it. The valuation is done independently.

If you want to resell or insure your diamonds, note that the certificate of authenticity issued by a jeweler will not be recognized because the jeweler is not considered as an impartial assessor. A certificate of authenticity can only come, to be recognized, from the institutes or laboratories that we have recommended above.

Buying and owning diamonds is a wonderful experience and if you would like to discuss it with our diamond expert, Mr. Yvan Delcourt, on any aspect of this fascinating gem, do not hesitate to contact him. He will be happy to answer all your questions( yd@private-diamond-club.com )

One guarantee is that every diamond from every jewel purchased from us at the Private Diamond Club of Antwerp is provided with a globally recognized Certificate of Authenticity from one of the three certification laboratories mentioned above.
